So far in the season Jim Zorn and Jason Campbell have only shown why they shouldn't return next year. Colt is sort of Jim Zorn's project, so is losing Zorn going to mean we'll never see colt as the starter? and if we get rid of campbell, are we going to take a qb in the 1st round?

Still too early to say/speculate about what's going to happen to Zorn, and what it would mean for Colt.
My buddy at work brought up an intersting point today, (after he needled me about the Lions) that he wonders if the team owner is pulling Zorn's strings. He follows football a lot more closely than I do, and he seems to remember that during his tenure as a QB coach, that Zorn liked to take risks, liked to gamble, liked to throw it downfield. The same thing happened to his team, and he wonders if it's happening to the Redskins. If that's the case, the owner should back off and let Zorn do the job he was hired to do.
This is only my opinon, but if Zorn manages to pull off a decent season i.e. a winning season, I think he should come back....with Colt as the starter.

I don't think the redskins' struggles are on zorn's shoulders as much as on campbell's. Campbell is supposed to be the big arm qb but when was the last time you saw him make a throw over 25 yards? i don't think he understands what "nfl open" is and that's why he holds the ball too long. He is on the list of most sacked qb's and on that list he holds the ball the longest (yes longer than roethlisberger). Campbell also sets the tone on offense, and if you haven't noticed he is a very plain guy. I think just having colt's energy on the field helps the offense.

"Third down, I'm the quarterback, and you call the halfback throwing the ball for me, I'm calling timeout or calling an audible," Jurgensen said. "I'm not letting the halfback throw it. That's what you pay me for." "Well, then, I would have to take you out of the game," Zorn countered. "As soon as you called timeout, I'd say what's wrong with my play, because...." "It didn't work!" Jurgensen interrupted. There was a long pause. "No, but I called it to work. All right?" Zorn said. "We called it to work. It didn't work. There were a lot of plays out there that didn't work. And I'd take you out of the game. Sorry, Sonny." voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/more-on-sonny-vs-zorn.html?wprss=redskinsinsiderHerein lies the problem. If the players don't do exactly what Zorn says, he'd take them out of the game. Zorn's too much of a perfectionist. He needs to loosen up and not think so much. Then Jason would do the same. HTTR Heal fast Colt.

There was some talk on ES about fiddling too much with the QBs... all that footwork chatter... rather than designing plays to utilize their strengths. I am not a coach but I sure would not want to have my guys worrying over form while function went to heck...

Very good point Liz. I seem to remember Colt saying something about Zorn watching and trying to tweak his footwork. If I were a QB coach or head coach, my priority would be function over form. If they can get the ball downfield, by either running or passing, that's all I'd be concerned with. Not how their foot work looks. I'm sure footwork is a big part of being a QB, but in my opinon, a secondary part.
June Jones knew how to bring out Colt's full potential. It's too bad he's not coaching for the 'Skins. I think the record would be a lot different.

Actually I think colt had a better preseason this year than last year. And thats thanks to Zorn. Colt made some bad mistakes... however he played within the system and had some great moments running the offense as designed. Zorn is a terriffic QB coach. Zorn has not toyed with Colts side arm at all. I think Colt is right on schedule as far as developement. Even June Jones said being drafted 6th round is the good situation for Colt. He believes Zorn won't rush him and in a few years Colt will be a better NFL Qb. Unfortunately ..Zorn is probably out..he's not a good head coach. . Hopfully Colt stays with skins. Losing Zorn might hurt Colt, but he is such a competitor. I think whatever team Zorn goes to he'll keep Colt in mind. And I really believe Zorn will Coach somewhere..as a QB coach. THere are a lot teams that need better QB coaches and Zorn is one the the best QB coaches.
