One of the things that shows how cool he is, is the fact that he goes back to Hawaii as much as possible. Sure, Hawaii is beautiful, you've got the sun, the beaches, the pretty girls, the party's and on and on... but when Colt was down only June Jones and the University of Hawaii were willing to give him a chance. He has never forgotten that.
Playing for the Redskins, on the East Coast, means any trip to Hawaii is a long one, but he returns and revisits the place, and the people, that helped shape him into the person he is today.
Just another example of how special he is, in my opinion. Best of luck to you Liz, I hope you get that meeting... if anyone deserves a few minutes with Colt, it's you.

warriorbeat.honadvblogs.com/2009/07/15/couple-of-minutes-with-doe-henderson/Colt delivers July 15th, 2009 by Stephen Tsai The checks are in the mailbox. Colt Brennan's wish was completed when the Koolauloa Red Raiders received money to pay cb-suitfor new uniforms for their four Pop Warner teams (ages 8-15). Brennan and the NFL donated an equal share to the Hau‘ula program. "They got both checks this week," Brennan said. "Of all of the things I've done, this is something I'm most proud of and most stoked about." Brennan learned of the NFL's matching-donation project from a Redskin teammate. He chose Koolauloa because of his friendship with Gerald Welch, a Hau‘ula resident and former UH slot. Brennan is a frequent visitor to the North Shore. He also noted that the area has one of the highest per-capita rates of developing NFL players. "That's awesome for a tiny community," Brennan said. "Pop Warner is where I found my love for football. I wanted to help, and it was a place that could use the help." The only thing he wants in return? "Updates," he said. "And a picture of the teams."

Regarding drdeath's post....you are so right on burddah. You hit the nail right on the head and I agree with you 100%.
Colt has never forgotten what UH, June Jones, and the people of Hawaii did for him. The fact that he continues to give back to not only the good people of DC, but also to Hawaii speaks volumes about his character. He may have been born in California, but as far as I am concerned, Colt is a 100% Hawaiian Local Boy!
Liz, I am glad you got to meet him. I can only hope I get chance to meet him one day as well.

Finally had the opportunity to meet both Colt and Davone here on Maui. I'd always wanted to thank them and their team mates for not only bringing families together but a whole state as well. We traveled to Oahu to meet up with our ohana's from the North Shore, Ewa Beach and the Big Island for Saturday home games to cheer on the Warriors. Thank you gentlemen! It may be a while before we see a team like yours again...... but I hope not.
